Curriculum Vision

Our Curriculum

In Ysgol Pencae, our children will be happy creative individuals that will be excited to learn in a safe environment.  They will be confident mathematicians, fluent speakers, scientific and critical in their thinking that will challenge them to become independent learners.  In an inclusive society they will be kind and considerate to others.  They will celebrate their Welshness whilst learning about the World. In our school the curriculum will be relevant, modern and will build a passion for lifelong capable learners.

A curriculum that inspires every learner

At Ysgol Pencae, we are committed to delivering a curriculum that inspires every learner. We strive to ensure that our learning is not only current in content but also dynamic in teaching styles. Our pupils are enthusiastic and eager to learn, and the experiences we design aim to nurture and feed this passion.

Pupil voice is central to our approach. We provide constant opportunities for learners to shape their own educational journey, helping them grow into enterprising, independent individuals who apply their skills to solve problems, develop ideas, think creatively, and embrace a lifelong love of learning.

Wales and Welshness are at the heart of everything we do. We believe it is vital that pupils develop a strong sense of pride and understanding of their local area, its history, and their identity as Welsh citizens.

Our curriculum fosters a deep respect for ourselves, for others, and for the diverse traditions and beliefs that make up the wider world. We celebrate differences and encourage our pupils to be principled, confident individuals as they step into society.

We also celebrate the individuality of every learner, offering a variety of opportunities for pupils to express their personalities and strengths — particularly through our Llywio Llwyddiant and Amdani’n Annibynnol sessions.

Our pupils become confident in their literacy skills (Welsh, English and French), numeracy skills and digital skills.

In all our planning, we ensure our curriculum is purposeful and progressive, supporting pupils to continually develop their skills across all areas of learning and experience.
